Winnipeg police charge 2nd person in June collision that killed cyclist
Winnipeg police have charged a second person in connection with a collision that killed a cyclist in June.
The 18-year-old man was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that killed Rob Jenner, 61, on June 6, police say.
He has been charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, police said in a news release on Monday. He was released from custody after he was charged.
Beckham Keneth Severight, 19, was charged with failing to stay at the scene and dangerous driving causing death.
Police allege Severight was behind the wheel of a speeding BMW when it struck and killed Jenner, who was cycling on Wellington Crescent near Cockburn Street N., around 7 a.m. that day.
Jenner was rushed to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.
