A building near Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre has been reduced to a heap of rubble after a Sunday night blaze.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey commercial/industrial building on Logan Avenue, between Arlington and Nora streets, shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a City of Winnipeg news release.
Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the building when crews arrived, and the city says they were unable to enter the building due to dangerous conditions.
Handlines and aerial ladder trucks were used to attack the fire.
The building is considered a complete loss due to extensive damage, and the city said it ordered an emergency demolition.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
