Police investigation shuts down major Winnipeg intersection, at least 1 person sent to hospital

At least one person is in hospital and police have shut down a major intersection in northeast Winnipeg for an investigation.

Dozens of evidence tags mark locations around the intersection of Chief Peguis Trail and Henderson Highway while a damaged vehicle can be seen on the boulevard.

Police have not provided any details of the investigation other than to say officers have been there since about 11:30 p.m. Monday and will likely remain through most of Tuesday morning.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Henderson are closed at the intersection.

The westbound lanes of Chief Peguis are blocked from Gateway Road to Main Street, while eastbound traffic from Main can turn south on Henderson.
