Neighbour charged with 2nd-degree murder after man stabbed at Winnipeg apartment block

A 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man after an altercation at a Centennial neighbourhood apartment block earlier this year.

Police were called to the apartment on Fountain Street on Feb. 3, where they found Charles Danny Chartrand, 43, unresponsive.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died, police previously said.

Following his death, homicide investigators asked for help finding two people of interest whose images were captured on cameras in the area.

Police now allege Rory Alexander Mousseau became involved in an altercation with Chartrand at the apartment block where they lived together, leading up to the homicide.

Mousseau, who was already in custody for an unrelated matter, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder.
