Teen arrested with air gun after 5 robberies reported in 1 hour: Winnipeg police
A 17 year-old has been accused of using an air gun in five separate robberies over the course of one hour within the River Heights and Polo Park areas Friday, Winnipeg police say.
Reports of the robberies were made to police between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, with each report containing similar descriptions of a person with gun who fled on an e-bike after the robberies occurred, police said in a Monday news release.
The targets of the robberies included a jogger, a fast-food restaurant, two gas stations and a craft store, according to the release. In each instance, the suspect was armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, while also asking for a drink at the restaurant.
The spree ended when the suspect was hit by a car at St. James Street and Saint Matthews Avenue, police say, and he left his bike to flee on foot before police caught him on Madison Avenue and arrested him.
Police say they took a gun from the 17-year-old upon arrest, which was found to be a C02 pistol (otherwise known as an air gun).
The teen was brought hospital for treatment as he was injured in the collision.
The teen was charged with multiple counts of robbery, disguise with intent, use of an imitation firearm, as well as one count for possession of a weapon. He was detained in police custody.
