Family pleads for help finding missing Manitoba man
The family of a Manitoba man who hasn’t been heard from in weeks is asking the public for any information that might help bring him home safe.
Aaron Everett Sinclair, 39, was last in touch with family on Aug. 2 and last made a post on Facebook on Aug. 10, northern First Nations advocacy group Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak said Tuesday. Sinclair is a member of Pimicikamak Cree Nation, also known as Cross Lake.
His mother, Joanne Sinclair, spoke through tears at a news conference as she pleaded for help finding her son, who she said is usually in touch with her fairly often.
“We’re asking for some help in finding him safe, to come home to us,” she said, wiping her eyes. “I want my boy to come home.”
Joanne Sinclair said her family has been looking for her son all over Winnipeg, where he’d been living for about a year.
“He never took off on us. He was always around family,” she said.
Shirley Robinson, a councillor in Pimicikamak, said the community’s leadership has been working to support the family as they try to find the missing man.
“This is very heavy on the family right now. Not knowing where Aaron may be, not knowing how things are with him right now,” Robinson said at the news conference.
“If you know his whereabouts or have heard from him or you’re with him, please, we urge you to contact the family. The grandmother is here in the city, waiting for her grandson.”
Winnipeg Police Service spokesperson Const. Dani McKinnon said police got a missing persons report about Sinclair on Aug. 31 and are investigating.
A missing person poster presented at the news conference said the missing man is five feet, nine inches and 210 pounds with hazel eyes and long, medium brown hair, which his mother said her son often wears in a bun.
