6 women sexually assaulted in Winnipeg last week, police say

The Winnipeg Police Service’s sex crimes unit has received multiple reports of a man sexually assaulting women last week.

From Wednesday to Saturday, six women reported being groped from behind by a stranger who then ran away, police said in a news release on Tuesday. 

The first two assaults happened on Wednesday around 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., police said. The first happened on Balmoral Street south of Broadway and the second near the intersection of Main Street and Assiniboine Avenue. 

The other assaults happened at 9:50 p.m. Thursday near Ellice Avenue and Hargrave Street, 7 p.m. Friday on Edmonton Street south of Portage Avenue and 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Granite Way and Osborne Street. 

Detectives are looking for a clear surveillance image of the man. 

He is described as light skinned, between five feet, four inches, and five feet, eight inches tall and possibly wearing glasses.
