York police investigating suspicious death of woman in Vaughan home
York police’s homicide unit is investigating the suspicious death of a woman in Vaughan early Wednesday.
Officers were initially called to a home on Isa Court shortly before 12:30 a.m. after receiving calls from concerned neighbours, police said.
They arrived to find a woman, in her 60s, with very serious injuries. She was pronounced dead soon after, said Const. Lisa Moskaluk.
Moskaluk did not provide any further information about the nature of the woman’s injuries or her cause of death. She said an autopsy is scheduled for the coming days.
“At this time, we are treating this incident as suspicious,” she told media at the scene.
A man in his 70s was taken into police custody and underwent questioning from investigators, she said. No charges had been laid as of later Wednesday morning.
The woman and the man both lived in the home, Moskaluk said, but she would not comment on their relationship.
Moskaluk could not say whether anyone else was inside the residence when officers arrived or if they recovered a weapon at the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact York police or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
