Toronto Maple Leafs heading to the playoffs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Leafs did not play Friday evening but secured their eighth consecutive postseason ticket when the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers lost their respective games.
Last year, the Leafs won their first playoff series since 2004, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, Toronto was eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the second round.
The Leafs, currently third in the Atlantic Division, will return to the ice on Saturday to face the Montreal Canadiens. The team has seven regular season games left to play.
The playoffs will begin on April 20.
