Pedestrian dead after being struck by streetcar in Toronto’s west end

A person is dead after he was struck by a streetcar in Toronto Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The person, who was on foot, was hit near the corner of Queen Street and Sorauren Avenue in the city’s west end, Toronto police said on X, formerly Twitter, just before 4 p.m.

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the person died at the scene. No further information on the victim has been released.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident,” said TTC spokesperson Adrian Grundy. “We are assisting police with their investigation, including providing any available video evidence.”   

The area was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
