Man shot and killed in his driveway in Markham, victim ID’ed
York police are looking for suspects after a man was shot and killed in his driveway in Markham on Saturday evening.
Officers responded to a weapons call near 14th Avenue and McCowan Road around 6:30 p.m., police said in a news release Sunday afternoon.
When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot in his driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Partheepan Panchalingam, 44, of Markham.
The shooting is considered targeted and the homicide unit is investigating, police say.
Investigators are looking for at least one suspect who was seen in the area at the time wearing dark clothing. They are also looking for a white SUV, the release said.
Police are asking people who live in the area to check their security cameras and dashcam footage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
