Fire boat that is used to break up ice has been repaired and back in operation, city says

Ferry service to Ward’s Island has been out of commission since Sunday, but it is expected to resume once ice in Toronto Harbour is broken up, the city says.
Residents who want to get to Toronto Islands can do so using bus service from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, according to Russell Baker, spokesperson for the city. He said the bus is accessible from several bus and streetcar lines.
Baker said Toronto Fire Services has repaired a fire boat it uses in the harbour to break up ice.
“Repairs were made earlier today, with the fire vessel operating in the harbour breaking ice. Passenger vessel service is expected to be back online once the path is clear and it is safe to do so,” Baker said.
