A man is dead and four other people were taken to hospital after a collision in the town of Mono, Ont., about 100 kilometres north of Toronto, on Friday.

A man is dead and four other people were taken to hospital after a collision in the town of Mono, Ont., about 100 kilometres north of Toronto, on Friday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they were called to a two-vehicle collision on Airport Road between Country Road 7 and 5 Sideroad, shortly before 4 p.m.

A 20-year-old Scarborough man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a news release Saturday. 

OPP said a 21-year-old man was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre, and three others — two males and one female — were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours but have since reopened.
