Edmonton is exploring ways to make downtown more vibrant, and bring back visitors to the core. As part of this initiative, city council will vote on making a temporary “entertainment district” along Rice Howard Way later this spring.

The city is looking at making downtown more fun. New reports are looking at how to improve our night time economy, and plans are in place to create a formal ‘Entertainment District’ on Rice Howard Way. Host Clare Bonnyman goes to check out the proposed district, and hear from the city and business owners about the difference this new space could make.

The proposal is for a pedestrian-only space where food and alcohol could be enjoyed outdoors.

But what could that actually look like and will that bring the energy and crowds that downtown is so hopeful for?

In the latest episode of This Is Edmonton, host Clare Bonnyman goes for a walk in the proposed district to hear from the city and business owners about the difference this new space could make — and the concerns of some business owners.
