3 charged in Brampton murder investigation

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged three people in a Brampton homicide investigation from January.

The shooting happened near Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 18. A man was found in his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as Tesean Alvarez.

Police say the victim and another occupant of the vehicle were involved in a violent altercation and gunshots were exchanged. Police said at the time of the incident that the altercation likely happened inside the vehicle.

Last week, Peel police charged a 24-year-old Brampton man with two counts of attempted murder and unauthorized possession of a firearm. In a news release, police say the man was on federal parole for firearm-related offences.

Police later arrested a 22-year-old Brampton man who is charged with second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

A 21-year-old Brampton man faces accessory after the fact charges.

All three were held in court for bail hearings, police said.
