The search for a boy who went into the water at Ashbridges Bay and didn’t come out continues Monday, Toronto police say.

Emergency services were initially called to the east-end bay around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police say that two other people went into Lake Ontario to try to rescue the boy, who they described only as a “male youth,” before officers arrived. One was a boy who was eventually taken to hospital and the other was a man who did not sustain any injuries.

Police did not provide any further information about the incident or the people involved.

A Toronto Fire boat and three inflatable rescue boats were used in the search Sunday evening. The effort was suspended around 8:45 p.m., firefighters say.
