Water main break near Kingsway causes Tuesday traffic disruptions

Epcor crews were called to a water main break at 109 Street and 111 Avenue in Edmonton on Tuesday morning.
Drivers were asked to use alternate routes.
“Water main breaks can occur this time of year when we see temperature fluctuations. As the ground freezes and thaws, it can shift the earth and cause water mains to break,” an Epcor spokesperson wrote in an email to CTV News Edmonton.
Epcor says signs of a water main break can include water coming up from the ground, a pool of water on the road that is not near a drain or catch basin, and steam coming off the water in the winter.
Anyone who spots a water main break is asked to call Epcor 24 hours a day at 780-412-4500 to report it.
