Several homes on fire in southwest Edmonton
Flames spread from an apartment building under construction to several townhomes in southwest Edmonton early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were still fighting visible flames at 204 Desrochers Blvd. SW, near Dr. Anne Anderson High School and James Mowatt Trail SW, as of 6 a.m.
Fourteen fire trucks were at the scene.
No one has reported any injuries and buses have been brought in to keep evacuees warm, officials say. It’s not known how many people were displaced.
Police have closed the area of 119 Street SW and 35 Avenue SW to provide room with the firefight.
Fire crews were called to the blaze around 4:30 a.m.
