Early results are now trickling in for a handful of polls in urban Alberta ridings. Preliminary results are rolling in for Edmonton West, Edmonton Centre and Edmonton Manning.
Voters were lined up outside the Delwood Community Hall in Edmonton Griesbach after polling stations closed. People who were in line by 7:30 p.m. were waiting to vote.
Polls are now closed in Alberta for the country’s 44th general election.

Votes from election day and advanced polls can now be counted. In Alberta, 34 seats are up for grabs.
Final results may not be available for days, as Elections Canada handed out more than 1.2 million special ballot kits across the country.
Tabulating mailed-in ballots won’t begin until Tuesday and may take up to five days.
In Edmonton Mill Woods, voter Bev Carlson said she was frustrated about voting in an election she says should never have been called.
She said voting is a civic obligation.
“I didn’t like what we had before, so we’ll try something else,” Carlson said. “Sometimes it’s not very good, either, but let’s change it.”
Police were called to a disturbance at a northeast Edmonton polling station Monday morning.
Two people who refused to wear masks got into a dispute with polling station workers. Police asked them to leave.
