Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for much of southern Alberta and parts of western Alberta.
Heavy snowfall is expected to continue through the night and into Wednesday, tapering off Thursday morning.
The agency is projecting that up to 40 centimetres will fall in some parts of the province, with minimum amounts totalling 15-20 cm.
Canmore, Bragg Creek, Longview, Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, Milk River, Waterton Lakes National Park, Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass will be impacted.
On Tuesday afternoon, Calgary Transit said it would activate snow detours along some of its routes beginning Wednesday.
“We’ll monitor how the weather unfolds Wednesday afternoon and revaluate whether snow detours will remain in effect during the afternoon rush hour,” said Stephen Tauro, with transit service support, in a statement.
