Search of suspicious vehicle in south Lethbridge leads to seizure of drugs, cash

A 28-year-old woman has been charged after a search of a suspicious vehicle led to the seizure of drugs and cash.

On Dec.19, police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle around the 100 block of First Avenue South, where they witnessed activity they believed to be consistent with drug trafficking.

The female driver was arrested, and officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, leading to the seizure of approximately 286 grams of fentanyl (around 2,860 doses), 87 grams of methamphetamine (870 doses) and 3.4 grams of heroin.

Police also seized $9,727 in cash from the driver, which they believe to be proceeds of crime.

The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at $16,900.

The 28-year-old Lethbridge resident was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Following a bail hearing, the woman was released from custody.

She’s scheduled to appear in court on Jan.28.
