Love With Humanity Association throws free festive bazaar in northeast Calgary

A free festive bazaar took place in northeast Calgary Saturday afternoon, offering all the trimmings so that people in need can have Christmas dinner this year.

Love With Humanity Association president and founder Syed Hassan said the event provided fruits, vegetables, juice and even turkeys (and gravy) for anyone who wanted some.

In 2023, Hassan said his organization provided food for about 200 people but in 2024, he expected to serve around 300.

“Families have crises paying mortgages, bills and rent,” he said, “so it’s hard for them to celebrate Christmas so me and my team are organizing the event at Falconridge Community Centre (every year).

“(This year), we have received so many messages, and texts,” Hassan said. “People want food.

“Please (they say), we need something like this — at least (then) we can celebrate and make it a joyful Christmas.

Love With Humanity Association also offer community food banks for people and pets throughout the city.
