Weather warning issued as Calgary expected to see between 15 to 30 cm of snow

An expected heavy dump of snow for Calgary could impact travel and commutes over the next two days.

In an updated special weather statement issued at around 4:40 a.m Thursday, Environment and Climate Change Canada said between 15 to 30 cm of snow is expected starting Thursday.

It’ll eventually taper off on Friday morning.

The agency said it may make for difficult driving conditions.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” reads a statement on the agency’s website.

“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”

Temperatures are predicted to hover around 0 C Thursday during the day and drop to -3 C at night.

It’ll stay below freezing throughout Friday morning as the snow begins to taper off.
