‘Dangerous person alert’ issued for Calgary double murder suspect
Calgary police have issued an emergency alert for an armed man they say is a suspect in the double murder of a father and his daughter.
Officials say Benedict Kaminski, 38, is believed to be armed.
At about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, police were called to a home in the 0 to 100 block of Kincora Grove N.W.
Officers found a deceased man in his 70s.
As police investigated, a second victim who was believed to be the man’s daughter, a woman in her 30s, was found dead in a home at 11:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Tuscany Ridge Heights N.W.
Police say both deaths are believed to be targeted and domestic in nature.
At about 12:15 p.m., an Alberta Emergency Alert was sent out about “a dangerous man with a firearm” in northwest Calgary and Bearspaw, a community just outside city limits.
The alert identified the suspect as Benedict Kaminski, 38.
In a news release, police said Kaminski is believed to be somewhere in northwest Calgary or Bearspaw and ask all residents in those communities to be on alert.
He is described as approximately 183 centimetres (6′) tall, having brown and grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey, red and white T-shirt.
It’s believed Kaminski is driving a black, 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with Alberta licence plate number CLN 5276.
No additional details are available at this time.
The emergency alert advised residents to not open the door to strangers, do not post any details of police activity on social media and report all possible sightings of the suspect to police by calling 911.
