Police look for driver who allegedly put person in car after hit and run before fleeing

Toronto police are looking for a driver who allegedly struck a pedestrian and put them in their car before leaving the scene earlier this week.

In a news release, police said a driver in a dark Honda Civic struck a pedestrian while they were crossing the intersection of Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road in Scarborough at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

“Immediately following the collision, the driver of the dark coloured Honda Civic exited and assisted the pedestrian into his vehicle and fled the area at a high rate of speed,” the release reads.

“Police would like to speak with the driver and pedestrian to ensure the pedestrian is safe and well.”

Police were able to recover a partial Ontario licence plate, which may start with either CBMA or CDMA, and said the car would have notable damage to the front end. They released suspect photos of the incident.

The Honda Civic was last seen traveling southbound on Victoria Park Avenue after the collision.

Police are also looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have dashcam or security video.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers.
