Elderly woman struck by vehicle in parking lot, suffers life-altering injuries
An elderly woman suffered life-altering injuries when she was struck by a car in a grocery store parking lot.
It happened Tuesday, around 10:20 a.m., in the parking lot of the Sobeys at 555 Strathcona Blvd. S.W.
The woman who was hit is in her 90s.
A woman in her 50s was behind the wheel of the 2007 Honda Civic that hit her.
Police say the driver made a sharp turn into one of the parking lot laneways, near the grocery store entrance, colliding with the elderly pedestrian.
The victim was taken to hospital with life-altering injuries, police say.
The driver remained at the scene.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are not suspected.
But investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police are asking for the public’s assistance.
