Goat found wandering streets of East Vancouver, apprehended by police

Vancouver police officers took a goat into custody Friday night.

The animal was spotted wandering the streets of the city’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood as the sun was setting.

Video shared with CTV News Vancouver shows the goat trotting down an alley near Kingsway, while another video posted on social media shows it running along a sidewalk.

Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin told CTV News in an email Saturday that police got “multiple calls” about the goat beginning around 7:15 p.m.

She said the goat was reportedly running around near Broadway and St. Catherines Street, and officers arrived at that location to find the animal “stuck in a thorn bush.”

“Officers were able to free the goat from the bush and took it to the family farm of one of our officers, as there were no other places to take it,” Visintin said.

VPD Deputy Chief Howard Chow shared a photo of the animal on social media, along with the hashtags “why,” “SeenItAll,” and “NeverADullMoment.”

Visintin said the goat will remain at the officer’s family farm until the BCSPCA can find its home.
