3 dead in crash south of Winnipeg, near Morris

Three of the four people in a car were killed when the driver went through a stop sign and the vehicle was broadsided by an SUV, RCMP say.

Emergency crews were called just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to the crash at the intersection of highways 23 and 200, about 14 kilometres east of Morris.

The car was heading north on 200 and failed to stop at the intersection, police said.

A 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both from Winnipeg, and a yet-to-be-identified female were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 32-year-old passenger was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, police said. She remains in stable condition.

A 43-year-old man from Mitchell, Man., who was driving the SUV, was not physically injured.

RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
