PWHL unveils Ottawa Charge team name and logo

Ottawa’s professional women’s hockey team will be called the Charge.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League unveiled the names for the six teams on Monday ahead of the second season.

The logo is an ‘O’ with spikes coming from the back of the logo.

“The monogram ‘O’ reflects a spinning object charged with electricity, intensity and the power the fans bring to every game,’ the Ottawa Charge said on social media.

“The faceted cut in the ‘O’ subtly introduces the letter ‘C’, tying the design back to the team’s name.”

The spikes at the back of the ‘O’ logo are for “spark and speed.”

“Spikes radiating from the ‘O’ emphasize forward momentum and the spirit of the city, ‘Advance – Ottawa En Avant.

The Arena at TD Place will be the primary venue for the 2024-25 games.

Toronto’s team will be known as the Sceptres, and Montreal will be the Victoire.

  • Ottawa Charge
  • Toronto Sceptres
  • Montreal Victoire
  • Minnesota Frost
  • Boston Fleet
  • New York Sirens
